Freeman. Solar Craft I is a small catamaran measuring 2.5 meters in length. Equipped with a removable rudder and a propeller powered either by pedals or by the solar cells, Solar Craft I can reach a top speed of 6 km\/h using solar energy alone. Alan T. The first boat to use solar energy was Solar Craft I (1974), designed in England by Alan T. Freeman. In the 1980s <span lang=\"de-DE\">had<\/span> <span lang=\"de-DE\">a<\/span> solar boat had great <span lang=\"de-CH\">enthusiasm<\/span> in Switzerland and Germany <span lang=\"de-DE\">and<\/span>aroused<span lang=\"de-DE\">t<\/span>. It is the Japanese Kenichi Horie who made the first achievement in solar navigation. In 1985, he made the first major solar-powered crossing by sailing between Hawaii and Japan. However, Kenichi Horie is best known for having made the first solar-powered crossing in 1996. complete crossing of the Pacific Ocean with a solar boat<span lang=\"de-DE\">e<\/span>. The first crossing of the Atlantic <span lang=\"de-DE\">was<\/span> between 2006 and 2007 by the Sun21, a Swiss solar boat.
